Congregation Life

Lutheran Social Services of New York stands ready to support congregations in helping them develop new services and programs to address the social service needs specific to its existing community.

For example, a congregation may have identified the need for a community food pantry but does not have the resources or expertise to initiate such a program. With the support of experienced and professional staff provided by Lutheran SocialServices of New York and congregational volunteers, the need becomes a partnership reality.

Contributions to Congregation LIFE will help fund:
• Newly created Congregational LIFE Grant Fund
• Transportation needs for the elderly
• Start-up costs for new program development in congregations and their communities.

Looking Forward

Lutheran Social Services of New York looks ahead to the celebration of its 125th Anniversary, 2011. We invite Lutheran congregations, in light of this historic occasion, to become one of 125 Inaugural Leadership Congregations and covenant with our agency for the future of our shared social ministry. We believe that our God given gift is LIFE and that, together, we can build new programs and services that will enable us to minister to 150,000 persons in need by 2012.

Congregation LIFE Grant Fund

Beginning in 2011, the fund will be used to seed new social ministries or nourish and grow existing social ministries of Lutheran congregations or Lutheran church-related entities or activities in the LSSNY service area.
